CONTINUING EDUCATION

At Sleep and Snoring Therapy, our commitment to holistic patient care goes beyond our own clinic. Through continuing education, we strive to empower other healthcare professionals to incorporate sleep screening and patient education into their practices. By sharing knowledge and practical tools, we aim to raise the standard of care and work together toward better health outcomes for all our patients.

Current Offerings:

Objective:  Equip dental hygienists with the knowledge and communication strategies to identify potential sleep apnea patients, educate them on the risks, and introduce solutions, including dental solutions.

Teaching Method: This course is a blended learning experience that combines electronic self-instruction with live sessions. Participants will engage with recorded lectures and peer-reviewed journal articles at their own pace. Additionally, live sessions will provide an opportunity for material review and interactive question-and-answer discussions.

Course Outline: This seminar is divided into 2 parts:

  • PART 1 - Introduction and Sleep Fundamentals, the following topics will be covered

    • Sleep Health and Problematic Sleep

    • Fundamentals of Sleep Apnea (OSA)

    • Women and Sleep

    • Children and Sleep​

LIVE SESSION​​

  • PART 2 - Effective Screening and Patient Communication

    • Screening for Sleep Apnea in the Dental Office

    • Communicating with Patients about Sleep Apnea

    • Oral Appliances for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

    • Implementation​​

LIVE SESSION

Duration: 15 hours (including recorded lectures, journal articles and live sessions)

Dr. Erin Priemer

Dr. Erin Priemer has been practicing general dentistry for over 20 years, and holds the Qualified Dentist designation from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), the leading national organization representing dentists who treat sleep-related breathing disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring. She takes a holistic approach to treating and managing sleep apnea, empowering patients to actively engage in their care, resulting in more effective and lasting outcomes.
